Minutes of the East Grinstead & District Guild

Quarterly Meeting

held at Betchworth on 

Saturday 14th September 2019

Before the meeting commenced, Kate Wills, Chairman, asked those present to stand to remember John Warner and Keith Game, guild members who had passed away since our last business meeting.

Business commenced at 6.03pm.

Kate thanked John Miller for giving us access to the bells, David Evans for taking the service and Melvin Hughes for playing the organ.

1. Apologies for Absence

These were received from Gavin Bennett, Mike Bullett, Candy O’ Donovan, Gail Terry, Chris Westwood, Lynda Johnson, Margaret Funnell and Ray Large.

2. Minutes of the quarterly meeting on 12th January 2019 at Speldhurst.

The minutes were read by Patrick Wills (Guild Secretary). Acceptance proposed by Roger Cowsill, seconded by David Finch. All were in favour so Kate signed the minutes.

3. Matters arising : None.

4. Election of new members

Rosalind Cowsill proposed for re-election & ratification John Palmer. John rang in the quarter peal which was rung at Edenbridge on 14th June, the day some of John Warner’s ashes were interned in the churchyard.

5. Any other Business

Roger Cowsill thanked Patrick Wills for arranging the very successful outing in July. Patrick asked if starting with coffee prior to the first tower was favourable. Those present who had attended the outing agreed it was a good idea.

The meeting closed at 6.10pm.

Next meeting

Saturday 12th October

Patrick had received no response to his request for Biggin Hill and had now asked for Brasted, although confirmation was still awaited.
